BROWN'S TOWN COMMUNITY COLLEGE

 

Arts and General Studies Department

A' level/CAPE - available to persons with four CXC/GCE O' level subjects which should include English Language and two related subjects.   Duration is two years of full time studies.

 

Business and Hospitality Services Department

  • Associate Degree in Business Administration (CCCJ), Associate Degree in Hospitality Services (CCCJ) and Associate Degree in Management Information Systems (CCCJ) - entry requirement is CXC, GCE O' level or SSC (ranges 4 and 5) subjects.  Duration is two years of full time study.

  • B.B.A. in Business Administration (UTECH) - entry requirement is CXC/GCE O' level subjects including English Language and Mathematics.  Duration is four years full time study, however, the final two years of the programme are done at UTECH.

  • Certificates in Tourism, and Office Administration and Technology - admission is determined by College Entrance Examinations.  Duration is two years full time study.

  • Accounting Technicians (ACCA) - entry requirement is three CXC/GCE O' level subjects including English Language and Accounts.  Duration of study is two years and on completion the successful students are awarded professional qualifications.

Continuing Education, Franchises and Partnerships

  • Tertiary Level Institution (TLI) - The courses are offered in collaboration UWI and include Certificate in Management Studies, Certificate in Public Administration and Certificate in Social Services.

  • UWIDEC (Distance Learning) - BSc in Management Studies offered in association UWI.

  • Northern Caribbean University (NCU) - Courses offered are Diploma in Education as well as degrees in Education, Counselling and Business Administration.

Evening Division

  • CXC/GCE O' level subjects

  • Introduction to computers (short course)

Science Department

  • BSc in Nursing - offered in conjunction with the University of the West Indies.  Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE subjects which should include English Language, Mathematics, Biology, another science subject and a related subject.  The duration of the programme is three years full time and it is offered at the St. Ann's Bay campus of the Brown's Town Community College.

  • Agricultural Management and Certificate in Information (NCTVET) - Admission is determined by College Entrance Examinations and the duration is two years of full time study.

  • Certificate in Pure and Applied Sciences - Students are required to have two CXC/GCE subjects as well as prior knowledge of the sciences.  Duration is one year of full time study.

  • Preliminary Science (N1-UWI) and Natural Science (A' level/CAPE) - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE subjects including English Language and Science subjects.  Duration is two years of full time study.

Technical Department

  • Applied Information Technology, Construction Industry, Electronics and Computing Systems, Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering, and Applied Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering - admission requirement for each of the courses is three related CXC or GCE O' level subjects.  The duration for these courses is two years full time.  On successful completion of the first year, students earn certificates and at the end of the second year they are awarded diplomas. 

  • Pre-engineering (UTECH) - Offered in collaboration with the University of Technology (UTECH) and individuals who which to participate in this programme are required to sit a UTECH entry examination. The duration is one year full time and admission requirement is three related CXC or GCE O' level subjects.

  • Bachelor in Business Administration - Offered in collaboration with UTECH.  Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics and English.  Duration is one year of full time study.

  • Associate Degree in Business - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics and English Language.  Duration is two year of full or part time study.

  • Associate Degree in Hospitality Management and Tourism - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including English Language.  Duration is two year of full time study.

  • Diploma in Business Studies - Entry requirement is four CXC/GCE O' level subjects including English Language and Mathematics or Accounts.  Duration is two year of full time study.

  • Association of Accounting Technicians (Foundation, Intermediate and Technician) - Entry requirement is three CXC/GCE O' level subjects or knowledge of accounting.  Duration is one year of full or part time study.  Duration is one year of full or part time study.

  • ACCA - Duration is one year of part time study.

  • Pre-Business - Available to persons who wish to repeat subjects.

  • Short courses in Small Business Management and Customer Service. Entry requirement is work experience.  Duration is three months of part time study.

Clothing and Textile

Diploma in Clothing and Textiles - Offered in collaboration with HEART Trust/NTA.  Admission is determined by an entry test.  Duration is two years of full time study.

 

Community Governance

Certificate in Community Governance - Duration is three months of part time study.

 

Computer

  • Associate Degree in Computer Servicing and Electronics - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics and English Language.  Duration is two year of full or part time study.

  • Associate Degree in Computer Applications and Business Studies - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics or Accounts and English Language.  Duration is two year of full or part time study.

  • Diploma in Information Technology - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics and English Language.  Duration is two year of full time study.

  • Modular course in Computer Studies (UTECH) - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics and English Language.  Duration is one year of full time study.

  • Introduction to Computers, Web Page Design, Computer Network and Computer Repairs - These are short part time modular courses.  Duration ranges from six to twelve weeks.

Continuing Education and Pre-University

  • Continuing Education, Pre-Art and Pre-Science - These programmes are for are for persons who wish to repeat  CXC and/or GCE subjects.  They may be done on a part or full time basis.

  • Pre-University (CAPE/A' level) - Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including English.  Duration is two year of full or part time study.

Cosmetology

Cosmetology and Beauty Therapy - Admission is determined by an entry test.  Duration is nine months of full or part time study.

 

Early Childhood Education

Early Childhood Care, Education and Development Levels 2 and 3 - Offered in collaboration with HEART Trust/NTA. Entry requirement is a Level 1 NCTVET Certificate.  Duration is one year of full or part time study.

 

Engineering

  • Diploma in Engineering (UTECH) -  Entry requirement is five CXC/GCE O' level subjects including Mathematics, Physics and English.  Duration is one year of full time study.

  • Pre -engineering (UTECH) - Admission is determined by an entrance test. Duration is one year of part time study.

Food and Nutrition

Baking Technology - Admission is determined by an entry test.  Duration is six months of full or part time study.

 

Health

  • Certificate in Geriatric Care - Offered in association with HEART Trust/NTA.  Duration is three months of part time study.

  • Certificate in Enrolled Nursing - Entry requirement is four CXC/GCE O' level subjects including English and one science subject.  Duration is eighteen months of full time study.

Tertiary Level Institution (TLI)

Certificate in Management Studies, Certificate in Public Administration and Certificate in Social Services are offered in collaboration UWI.
